Apply to the Summer School 2022

The Summer School is no longer accepting applications for the 2022 University Programme and Pre-College Programme.

Given current public health regulations and restrictions on international travel that may prevent some students from attending in person, the Summer School will be offering a selection of courses online in June and July in order to allow participants from all over the world to study at Sciences Po this summer.

The Summer School will also be offering a selection of courses on campus for students who are able to travel to France. The number of students present on campus will be limited in accordance with social distancing and public health measures, allowing us to ensure a safe learning experience for all students.

Building on the Summer School's expertise in online learning, and the success of the 2021 Summer School, we are looking forward to once again providing an enriching and multicultural learning experience for all students online and on campus!

University Programme

Eligibility: University students, graduates, and professionals, as well as high school students in their final year of secondary studies. Learn more about eligibility and language requirements.

Programme Dates:

• June session: June 7th - July 1st, 2022
• July session: July 4th - July 29th, 2022

Students may participate in one or both sessions.

The University Programme offers two academic tracks in the social sciences and French language. For each session, students can choose one core course from either academic track and they may choose to take an optional elective course.

For the social sciences track, students have the choice to take a social sciences course online or on campus in Paris, while the French language track will be offered exclusively on campus in Paris.

Students in the social sciences track delve into one of Sciences Po’s core disciplines, with courses in international relations, political science, economics, public policy, sociology, history and more. Courses are taught in English by Sciences Po professors and researchers.

*Please note that the course Human Security will now be offered on-campus during the July session. 

Students in the French language track are placed at one of six levels of French, from complete beginner to advanced. At all levels, classes focus on developing language skills, while also learning about French culture and contemporary issues in France.

Optional elective classes, open to students in both tracks (in the on-campus sessions only), allow participants to explore a new topic, go deeper into a subject of interest or combine the study of social sciences and French language.

Pre-College Programme

Eligibility: High school students who will still be enrolled in secondary school in Fall 2022. Learn more about eligibility and language requirements.

• Session 2: July 16th - July 30th, 2022
• Online Session: June 28th - July 8th, 2022

Students may participate in one or both on-campus sessions or in the new online session.

The Pre-College Programme is a unique opportunity for high school students to discover university academics at Sciences Po. This summer, students can choose to attend an on-campus session or participate from anywhere in the world through our new online session.

On Campus Sessions in Paris and Reims

During two or four weeks in July, students in the on-campus sessions undertake rigorous coursework in the social sciences, which introduces them to the key disciplines and methodologies of a Sciences Po education.

Master classes, taught entirely in English by Sciences Po professors and researchers, address current international issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, while elective classes allow students to delve into one of Sciences Po’s core disciplines (international relations, political science, law, etc.).

The first week of the Pre-College Programme takes place on Sciences Po’s campus in the historic city of Reims, in the heart of France’s Champagne region. During the second week, students will take classes in Paris at Sciences Po’s main campus and explore the capital’s landmarks and cultural sites.

Online Session: World Climate Negotiations Bootcamp

For the first time, the Summer School is offering high school students the opportunity to participate in an online course focused on developing their negotiation skills, as well as introducing them to climate change issues and international relations.

Through this negotiations bootcamp, students will learn about international relations theories and then put them into practice right away with role-playing exercises that include interactive rounds of simulation.

Additional Information

Course availability: The Summer School has rolling admissions and admitted candidates may register for courses on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates are therefore encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible. Class sizes are limited and will be closed when they fill up.

Housing: The number of spots available in housing options for the University Programme is limited and is not guaranteed for all students. If you would like to ensure that you can reserve housing through the Summer School, we strongly encourage you to apply in advance of the final deadlines. Accommodation is guaranteed for all participants in the Pre-College Programme.

Visas: Every year, a certain number of students need visas in order to attend the Summer School. If this applies to you, please factor this additional time into your application. You will need a Summer School enrolment letter to apply for the visa, which you will only receive once you have been admitted and paid the programme fees.
