Waseda University and Sciences Po have built a long-lasting partnership that includes a steady exchange of students and faculty. The WasePo Dialogue on \u00ab\u00a0Humans and Mobilities\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>

Globalization entails the constant movement of people, goods, capital, lifestyles, ideas and beliefs, all of them being of concern to social scientists. The Waseda-Sciences Po (WasePo) cooperation framework intends to gather researchers across both institutions who share a scientific interest for humans and mobilities, in a broad interdisciplinary perspective. This research framework aims at capturing the complex significance of people\u2019s mobilities in the early 21st<\/sup> century around the world and its utmost relevance to understand social, economic and political change.<\/p>

It will consider not only spatial mobility of people, but also their social mobility (changes of social status) as well as temporal mobility (life cycles). Conversely, it will also address the dynamics of immobility that also shape global processes and have notably been prominent during the recent global or regional \u201ccrises\u201d (financial, migration and COVID 19). These dialectically interplay with mobility trends. Material, social and symbolic aspects of mobilities and immobilities are at stake, from infrastructures, connectivity and transportation, to social relations (class and age structures) and positions, cultures and discourses, urban and rural governance, population politics. Researchers involved will seek to assess if and how they impact each other with a strong concern for historical trends and diachronic change across global contexts.<\/p>

This thematic framework will involve a number of issues including but not limited to international and internal migration and asylum, mass tourism, global education, circulation and transportation, housing, ageing, inter-generational relations, population policies, environmental dynamics, robotics, connectivity, communication and information, finance, smart cities, spatial and social inequalities\u2026 The research framework has identified three main thematic blocks that shape the interests and work of participants:<\/p>
