Celle-ci serait, au contraire, une affaire de relations entre personnes, dont les intuitions et le feeling d\u00e9termineraient les d\u00e9cisions. La cr\u00e9ation d\u2019entreprise serait une activit\u00e9 essentiellement informelle. Avant l\u2019entr\u00e9e en activit\u00e9 de l\u2019entreprise, et au d\u00e9but de son existence, une certaine ind\u00e9termination r\u00e8gnerait. Peu de choses seraient grav\u00e9es dans le marbre, notamment parce que l\u2019on n\u2019userait pas encore d\u2019une comptabilit\u00e9 rigoureuse. C\u2019est de mani\u00e8re orale, dans les interactions en face-\u00e0-face, mais aussi sur la base d\u2019intuitions \u2013 plus ou moins g\u00e9niales \u2013 plut\u00f4t que de donn\u00e9es pr\u00e9cises, que se prendrait la majorit\u00e9 des d\u00e9cisions.<br \/>\nCe serait le cas en particulier des d\u00e9cisions d\u2019investissement prises par les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de capital-risque, qui financent les projets d\u2019entreprise innovants. Le caract\u00e8re n\u00e9cessairement incertain des projets propos\u00e9s imposerait de se fier aux seuls \u00e9l\u00e9ments tangibles disponibles, \u00e0 commencer par la personne de l\u2019entrepreneur, dont on pourrait appr\u00e9cier le s\u00e9rieux, la r\u00e9solution, la comp\u00e9tence, l\u2019exp\u00e9rience, mais aussi la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9, le charisme, etc. M\u00eame si le projet en venait \u00e0 \u00e9chouer, on pourrait toujours faire confiance \u00e0 cette personne pour rebondir et d\u00e9finir une nouvelle strat\u00e9gie.<br \/>\nCette id\u00e9e est omnipr\u00e9sente dans le monde de l\u2019entrepreneuriat, mais on la retrouve \u00e9galement sous la plume des sociologues et des historiens. Il importe de remarquer, pour commencer, que la valorisation de l\u2019informel et du personnel par les acteurs du monde de l\u2019entrepreneuriat s\u2019accompagne souvent d\u2019une complainte, de leur part, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard de certaines des formalit\u00e9s qui s\u2019imposent \u00e0 eux \u2013 formalit\u00e9s l\u00e9gales impos\u00e9es par l\u2019\u00c9tat, mais aussi formalit\u00e9s financi\u00e8res. Il convient de noter que la solution propos\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019exc\u00e8s de formalit\u00e9 n\u2019est pas pour autant un renoncement \u00e0 toute formalit\u00e9 : les comptes pr\u00e9visionnels sont simplement remplac\u00e9s par les r\u00e9sultats effectifs.<br \/>\nC\u2019est ce que confirme l\u2019\u00e9tude des pratiques entrepreneuriales et de leur histoire. Plus pr\u00e8s de nous, l\u2019\u00e9mergence du monde actuel de l\u2019entrepreneuriat dans les d\u00e9cennies qui suivirent la Seconde Guerre mondiale s\u2019accompagna de la mise en place de nombreuses proc\u00e9dures administratives.<br \/>\nLe d\u00e9veloppement de la finance entrepreneuriale, autour notamment de l\u2019industrie du capital risque, accrut la demande de projets qu\u2019il fallut bien \u00e9tudier, \u00e9valuer, justifier, discuter, comparer, corriger, s\u00e9lectionner. Les investisseurs durent par ailleurs rendre des comptes aux march\u00e9s financiers comme aux autorit\u00e9s, et donc estimer la valeur de ces projets. En parall\u00e8le, les entrepreneurs furent conseill\u00e9s, accompagn\u00e9s, guid\u00e9s, encourag\u00e9s, form\u00e9s, par les professionnels de la comptabilit\u00e9, du droit ou du marketing, mais aussi bient\u00f4t, \u00e0 partir des ann\u00e9es 1970, par des institutions sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es telles que les incubateurs et autres acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs, ou encore par les sp\u00e9cialistes de la nouvelle quasi-discipline de \u00ab l\u2019entrepreneuriat \u00bb, dans le monde acad\u00e9mique. Que ce soit pour la prise de d\u00e9cision financi\u00e8re ou la p\u00e9dagogie, les acteurs en pass\u00e8rent par l\u2019\u00e9crit, dans un format manipulable, reconnaissable, standardis\u00e9. Ce n\u2019est pas parce que l\u2019envoi d\u2019un business plan \u00e9crit est requis que le capital risqueur ne va pas lire d\u2019abord et avec plus d\u2019attention celui qui lui a \u00e9t\u00e9 recommand\u00e9 par un ami. Mais l\u2019intrication entre les deux va plus loin. Les relations interpersonnelles sont elles-m\u00eames en partie formelles. L\u2019investisseur jugera aussi la personne de l\u2019entrepreneur en fonction de la qualit\u00e9 de son plan. Leurs \u00e9changes en face-\u00e0-face ob\u00e9issent eux-m\u00eames \u00e0 des scripts\u00a0: les entrepreneurs ont travaill\u00e9 leur <i>elevator pitch<\/i>, leur <i>demo<\/i> de technologie, leur pr\u00e9sentation de business plan. Ils investissent par ailleurs de mani\u00e8re calcul\u00e9e dans le d\u00e9veloppement de leurs r\u00e9seaux personnels. On comprend ais\u00e9ment les avantages que cela repr\u00e9sente pour les entrepreneurs et les investisseurs : cela soutient l\u2019h\u00e9ro\u00efsation, fort masculine, de leurs activit\u00e9s et de leur personne ; autant ne pas passer pour des employ\u00e9es de bureau. L\u2019insistance sur l\u2019informel et le personnel est plus \u00e9tonnante de la part des sociologues et des historiens. On trouve cependant quelques indices qui permettent de l\u2019expliquer, en retournant aux sources intellectuelles de cette id\u00e9ologie de l\u2019entrepreneuriat. On peut remarquer notamment l\u2019influence d\u2019un certain vitalisme \u00e9conomique sur l\u2019apparition d\u2019une vision hyperpersonnalis\u00e9e et informelle des activit\u00e9s entrepreneuriales.<\/p>\n<p>Pour l\u2019un des plus influents p\u00e8res fondateurs de l\u2019industrie du capital risque, Georges F.
