National history, political institutions and sociology all influence and affect its variations. Some forms are still compatible with liberal democracies, others are on the brink of turning into authoritarian regimes.\u00a0 Beyond these differences, however, there is a common foundation to be found in every situation: frustrations, fears and rejection of the elites. Is this a depressing thought?
