Spring 2021: launch of a committee to reflect on the skills and jobs of tomorrow

Digital revolution, ecological transition, health security, social justice... These are all challenges that students will have to face in the coming years and for which they must be prepared.

Witnessing the emergence of new jobs and the transformation of others, we wanted, in collaboration with Sciences Po Careers, the Direction of Strategy and Development and the Sciences Po Institute of Skills and Innovation, to launch a discussion on the jobs of tomorrow, the skills that our graduates will need to master and the innovations in the recruitment process, by inviting the major public and private organisations to discuss their needs in the years to come.

>Since the creation of our School of Public Affairs in 2015, we have placed the employability of each of our 2,200 students, from a variety of geographical and scholastic  backgrounds, at the heart of our thinking and our actions. This priority takes different forms:follow-up with the academic advisors along with the support of the EAP careers manager in collaboration with Sciences Po Careers, support by the network of mentors and career advisors, organisation of more than a hundred dedicated events throughout the year (career breakfasts, professional meetings, career immersions, forums, job roundtables, etc.), a weekly newsletter containing all the internship, apprenticeship and job offers, workshops (CVs, interviews, professional networks, etc.), development of apprenticeships, etc...

It is also accompanied by regular discussions between our academic staff, the directors, and scientific advisors of our policy streams with recruiters and practitioners who come to share their experience within the framework of the courses offered to our students, in order to adapt the content of our courses to the specificities of the jobs and functions that they will carry out, in the public sector, the private sector, or even at the edge of both.

In the spring of 2021, we wanted to launch this collective reflection on the professions of tomorrow, and the skills that our graduates will need to know how to mobilise, beyond the health crisis that is disrupting everyone's daily lives.

To lead this discussion with us, 14 major public and private organisations will bring their valuable contributions which will help us to identify the priorities and necessary evolutions within our courses, to adapt the support of our students and thus prepare them as well as possible for the responsibilities which will be theirs.
