On 7 June 2022, the 10th edition of the Claude Erignac Prize was awarded to Sina Sobooti, former "petit rat" ballet dancer of the Paris Opera and graduate of the School of Public Affairs at Sciences Po (Master in Public Policy), for his initiative, the "Dance-Eloquence programme".

The Claude Erignac Prize was created in 2001 shortly after the birth of the association. Until 2011, the Prize was awarded to an individual or entity  that had distinguished themselves by an act of courage or action in the service of the community or the general interest. Since 2012, the Claude Érignac Association has joined Sciences Po to reward one or more students from the school who, in addition to their academic career, give life, through their commitment, to the values of the Republic and humanism, such as a sense of general and collective interest, action to help others, respect for their differences, or a commitment to equal opportunities and success for all.

"MASTERING YOUR PHYSICAL EXPRESSION GIVES YOU REAL SYMBOLIC POWER IN SOCIETY".

Sina Sobooti : "The Dance and Eloquence programme is an innovative educational programme that combines public speaking and the performing arts. The originality of this initiative lies in three factors. Firstly, performing artists and athletes work directly with high school students during workshops on public speaking. They may be singers, dancers, performers, comedians, cantors, gymnasts, skaters, synchronised swimmers, who are by definition the most able to explain their relationship to the body or to speech. The second originality lies in the fact that these speakers come directly from local associations.

Finally, the third original feature is that these workshops take place first of all within the high schools but are then intended to take the pupils on stage, in the municipal partner cultural centres. It is by taking risks and exposing oneself to the public eye that one truly confronts oneself. What could be more formative than this experience for these students?

The Danse-Éloquence programme thus brings together the academic world (schools), the community world (local associations) and the cultural sector (municipal cultural centres). This programme will eventually be extended to several high schools in the Hauts-de-Seine. For the time being, it is intended for students in their final year of high school with a view to taking the oral exam for the Baccalauréat."

It is therefore this approachable notion of rhetoric, this socio-pedagogical commitment, this desire to pass on speaking techniques, and this journey from the Paris Opera to Sciences Po, that the Claude Erignac 2022 Prize, awarded to Sina Sobooti this year, recognises.
