Hubert Vedrine


Formerly the French Minister of Foreign Affairs during the Jospin govenrment, Hubert Vedrine began his career in the French Ministry for Culture, and eventually served as diplomatic advisor to former President François Mitterand, spokesman for the Elysée, and then Secretary-General for the Presidency of the Republic. He witnessed three French Presidencies of the European Community and the European Union, in 1984, 1989 and 1995 and took part in preparations for the Fontainebleau and Strasbourg European Councils. In 2003, Hubert Vedrine assumed leadership of the François Mitterand Institute and also founded Hubert Védrine Conseil, a geopolitical strategy consultancy firm. Hubert Vedrine is an alumnus of Sciences Po.
