A decade has passed since the historic COP15 Paris Agreement, which set high hopes
for a collective path to address the climate crisis and align the financial system to its
objectives. Since then, the political economy of the transition at both national and international
levels has rapidly changed. While some countries have shown marked progress in adopting
renewable energy, this has been associated with a deepening of carbon-intensive development
pathways elsewhere. Reconciling development ambitions with an increasingly constrained fiscal
and financial framework and geoeconomic fragmentation dynamics necessitates the
development of coordinated transition scenarios, across regions and globally.
As the COP30 Presidency puts Ministries of Finance on the front lines of its
implementation agenda, this event will discuss how climate macroeconomic and
ecological transformation scenarios could act as a way to coordinate economic policies
on climate.
