Education Above All supports Sciences Po

Sciences Po has made supporting refugee students a priority since the 2015 European migration crisis. In 2018, Sciences reinforced its commitment by creating the Professional Certificate for Young Refugees, a unique and ambitious programme that aims to meet the specific needs of young people whose life and studies have been interrupted and provide them with the tools to pursue their studies or careers in France. This two-year programme, certified by the French Ministry of Higher Education, helps students develop a foundation in French language and culture while providing them with soft-skills training, mentoring, and career planning to help them enter the French job market.

In September 2022, as part of EAA’s Qatar Scholarship programme funded by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Sciences Po signed a partnership agreement with the Education Above All Foundation to support the Professional Certificate for Young Refugees, Thanks to the support of the Education Above All Foundation,QFFD and the Ruth Stanton Foundation, which also supports the programme, 30 students will be able to complete the certificate over the next two years. The 5th class, which began their studies in September 2022, includes 16 students, 9 men and 7 women, from Afghanistan, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, Iraq and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Education Above All Foundation, which was founded by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the former First Lady of the State of Qatar, works to ensure equal access to education for vulnerable young people and to harness the power of quality education for positive, sustainable, and inclusive change. The Foundation’s Al Fakhoora programme focuses specifically on supporting access to higher education for students from marginalized communities and whose lives have been impacted by conflict, particularly refugee students.

Sciences Po is proud to count the Education Above All Foundation among its partners who support the Professional Certificate for Young Refugees. Together, our institutions will support the shared goal of providing talented young people in challenging situations with higher education that empowers them to lead transformative lives as individuals and in their communities.
