Salle des conférences 56 Rue Jacob, Paris, France
Organized bySciences Po (Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics & School of Public Affairs)

A conference with Sean Theriault, Professor, Department of Government, the University of Texas at Austin.

Discussant: Angela Tacea, Institute for European Studies, Brussels and Associate Researcher at Sciences Po Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics.

Chair: Emiliano Grossman, Sciences Po Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics.

Sean Theriault is a specialist of the US Congress and has widely published on this and related issues. His talk at Sciences Po will investigate the relationship between the US President and Congress under the presidency of Donald Trump. Every new President has to establish a working relationship with Congress, especially since presidents hardly ever enjoy a majority in both chambers.

To what extent does the arrival of Donald Trump represent a challenge to the relations between the President and Congress?

How is the current impeachment procedure going to affect that relationship and the President’s policymaking capacity?

After a discussion by Dr. Angeal Tacea, Professor Theriault will take questions from the audience.
