Avishai BenishAvishai Benish is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work and Social Policy at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research focuses on the social and political implications of the increasing marketization of the welfare state and the incorporation of “Market” logic into the realm of the “State”. His research agenda is interdisciplinary, combining theories and methodologies from law, sociology and political economy. He has published in journals such as Public Administration, Journal of Social Policy and Law and Society Review. While at MaxPo, he will continue his research on the regulation and governance of the welfare state under Neo-liberalism.



Emanuel FerraginaEmanuele Ferragina joined Sciences Po in January 2015. He is assistant Professor at the Observatoire sociologique du changement (OSC) and the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Evaluation of Public Policies (LIEPP), and Associate Member of the Department of Social Policy and Intervention at the University of Oxford. Prior to Sciences Po, he was Departmental Lecturer at University of Oxford where he also received his PhD. Emanuele is interested in the political economy of the welfare state, the individual and macro determinants of social capital and social participation, and the innovative use of the comparative method. Besides academia, he has established the think-tank Fonderia Oxford, which has the objective of raising public awareness about important societal issues.
