Sciences Po Théorie Politique (SPOT) organizes a "Book party" on Tuesday, 2 October at 17:00.
Souleymane Bachir Diagne (Columbia University) and Jean-Loup Amselle (EHESS) will present their new book: Enquête d’Afriques(s): Universalisme et pensée décoloniale. Yala Kisukidi (Paris 8) will be the discussant.
Please note: The meeting will take place at 17:00 in salle Annick Percheron at the CEVIPOF, 98 rue de l’Université, Paris.
On Thursday, 4 October we will convene for the usual SPOT seminar. Alessandro Ferrara (University of Rome Tor Vergata) will present his paper: Legitimate Authority: Too Many Gaps for One Concept to Bridge?. Ignacio Garces Garcia (Sciences Po) will respond.
The seminar will take place, as usual, at 17:00 in the 'grande salle' (third floor) at the Sciences Po doctoral school, 199 boulevard Saint Germain, Paris.
The SPOT seminar is a forum to discuss contemporary research in political theory. Our goal is to foster the dialogue between research conducted in France and overseas; to highlight the diversity of approaches and theories; to encourage debates between analytical and critical theorists.
This year, we will continue to critically examine the way we understand, theorize, and practice political theory. Building on the presentation of original work in the field, we ask participants to explain how they define their way of doing political theory and why their specific approach is best suited to solve the problems they are addressing in their work.
We welcome contributions from political philosophy, political theory, critical theory, the history of ideas and political thought.
The seminar is generally held once a month, on Thursday, from 5pm to 7pm.
Participants present their papers (30 ‐ 45 minutes), followed by comments from a discussant (10 ‐ 15 minutes), leaving an hour for questions and discussion with the audience.
Working languages: English and French.
The seminar is attended by Faculty members, PhD and master students, as well as participants from other departments and universities. Visitors welcome. Inscriptions : Marie‐Hélène Kremer.
