Jurisdiction and interpolity law
À propos de cet événement
Le 10 mars 2022 de 18:00 à 18:00
Lauren Benton, whose name we associate with the concept of "global legal history" has worked unceasingly on the legal geography of European empires and patterns of association between legal practices and spatial representations in imperial projects. The picture that emerges is very different from the one we imagine if we simply apply the idea of territorial sovereignty. This perception of fragmented imperial territories influenced thinking about international law. From the perspective of private international law in particular, the idea of interpolity law has special resonance for ways of thinking about jurisdiction.
