Big Data, AI and Criminal Law: applications in the criminal procedure in Colombia

Over the past few years, the Attorney General’s Office in Colombia has been designing an artificial intelligence application to aid prosecutors in the decision-making process relating to the preventive imprisonment of defendants while they face criminal proceedings. Drawing on this experience, in this session we will discuss the opportunities and limitations, both legal and non-legal, of using big data to inform decision-making and policy implementation when fundamental freedoms are at stake.
