Substitutability has found itself at the core of modern economic modeling for two reasons. First, it arises naturally in classes of models such as one-to-one matching, discrete choice, hedonic models, and many others. Second, it leads to successful numerical methods, such as the greedy algorithm in the discrete case, and the Jacobi algorithm related ones in the continuous case.

On April 15th this year, the Department was very saddened to learn of the passing of one of its truly remarkable and unique founders, Jean-Paul FITOUSSI, Professor Emeritus and former President of the OFCE (1989-2010).

A day of tribute and of remembrance will take place December 7th, from 9 am to 6 pm at Sciences Po.

For the first position, we are searching for candidates in any field of economics, with a special focus on public economics, development economics, industrial organization and environmental economics.
