Shaowei KE

Shaowei KE is Professor of Economics at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Prior to joining CEIBS, he was Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan.

He is an economics theorist. His research focuses on decision theory, behavioural economics and welfare economics. His current research focuses on combining decision theory, behavioural economics, and machine learning. His work has been published in numerous world leading journals including Econometrica, Management Science, Journal of Economic Theory, Theoretical Economics.

Lindsey Macmillan

Lindsey MACMILLAN is Professor of Economics and Founding Director of the Centre for Education Policy and Equalising Opportunities (CEPEO) at the University College London (UCL), creating new research to inform evidence-led education policy and wider practice to equalise opportunities across the life course. She is also a Research Fellow in the Education and Skills sector at the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion at London School of Economics (LSE). Lindsey is an elected member of the Scottish Economic Society Council, and Co-Editor of Education Economics.

Her research considers the role of early skills, education, and labour market experience in the transmission of incomes and work across generations. She has written on topics relating to educational inequalities, including the impact of selective schooling systems on social mobility, understanding the improved performance of London pupils, and the characteristics and outcomes of those who undermatch in higher education. Lindsey Macmillan also has a keen interest in the role of family background in access into and progression within occupations. She has published widely in leading journals in Economics, including Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Human Resources, and the Economic Journal; in Sociology; and in Statistics, including the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society.

Eugenio Verrina

Eugenio VERRINA is a Postdoctoral Researcher working with Jeanne HAGENBACH on her ERC project 'Motivated Reading of Evidence' (MOREV). Prior to joining the Department he was a postdoctoral fellow at Groupe d'Analyse et de Théorie Economique (GATE-LAB) in Lyon-Saint Etienne.

He holds a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn and the University of Cologne.

His research focus is on behavioural and experimental economics. He is particularly interested in the role of motivated beliefs, self and social image concerns and norms in economic decisions.

 Franz OstrizekFranz OSTRIZEK joined the Department in 2022 as Assistant Professor following two years as a postdoc at the Institute on Behavior and Inequality (briq) at the University of Bonn. He remains a Research Affiliate at briq. He was awarded a PhD in Economics in 2020 from Princeton University.

His fields of research are microeconomic theory and behavioural economics. He is particularly interested in behavioural mechanism design, performance evaluation, and incentives with misspecified beliefs. A very promising scholar, his research has already been honoured with awards and fellowships - he was notably awarded the 2021 Young Economist Award from the Austrian Economic Association (NOeG).

Jacob Goeree

Jacob GOEREE is the Scienta Professor and Director of the AGORA Center for Market Design at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Prior to joining UNSW he was a full professor at Caltech and the University of Zurich. Among his current editorial duties, he is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Theory and Games and Economic Behavior.

He is a world-leading experimenter, theorist and market designer. He has published in top tier general interest journals in economics and political science, notably Econometrica, American Economic Review, and Journal of Political Economy. His research has influenced the design of major spectrum auctions worldwide. In the US, he designed and tested the recent 700MHz auction that generated record revenues of 19 billion dollars and co-designed the market for pollution permits for the regional greenhouse gas initiative.

He has received a number of professional honours: he was elected Fellow of the Econometric Society in 2012 and member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2014. He served as President of the Economic Science Association and as Editor of Experimental Economics.

Denisa Mindruta

Denisa MINDRUTA is Associate Professor of Strategy at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris (HEC Paris). She also serves on the editorial review board of the Strategic Management Journal and the Academy of Management Review.

Her research examines how organisations and individuals within organisations create and appropriate value through strategic partnering. A number of her projects have examined the matching process driving partnership formation, both theoretically and empirically. She has explored this phenomenon in a variety of contexts involving contractual relationships between employees, teams, firms, universities, and non-profit organizations.

Her research has been published in the Strategic Management Journal and the American Journal of Political Science. She was a finalist for the INFORMS/Organization Science Dissertation Competition and for the Wiley Blackwell Dissertation Award. She obtained the AOM Technology and Innovation Management Division Best Conference Paper Award in 2008. She is also a Kauffman Foundation Dissertation Fellow.
