Job Market 2022/23: Call for applications

The Department is looking to recruit two Assistant Professors (tenure track) for September 1st, 2023.

For the first position, we are searching for candidates in any field of economics, with a special focus on public economics, development economics, industrial organization and environmental economics.

The second position, financed by the McCourt Instituteis open to candidates with research related to the digital transformation or the economics of new technologies of information and communication. We are particularly interested in candidates investigating how digital technologies impact political and social preferences and access to information.

Candidates are offered a competitive salary package and a light teaching load. 

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand (or are firmly expecting one by August 2023) and should show promising or significant scholarship and teaching ability. English is the Department's working language (for teaching as well) and knowledge of French is NOT required. Jean-Paul Renne

Jean-Paul RENNE is Full Professor and Director of the Department of Economics at HEC Lausanne. He has served a number of institutions in the capacity of scientific consultant - among others: the European Central Bank (ECB), the Swiss State Secratariat of Economics Affairs, Banque de France - and served as Senior Economist of the Banque de France

His research focuses on time series analysis, macro-finance modelling, interest rates, and credit risk.

Vincenzo Denicolò

Vincenzo DENICOLÒ is Professor of Economics at the University of Bologna, where he is also the Director of their PhD programme. He is also a  Research Fellow at the Centre of Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Among his editorial duties, he is currently Co-Editor of the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy.  

He works mainly in the field of industrial organisation and in particular on the economics of innovation and competition policy. However, he also works on endogenous growth theory and maintains an interest in the theory of social choice, a field in which he published extensively in the past. He has published more than sixty articles in refereed journals and has served in various administrative and editorial roles.

Daniel Martins de Almeida Barreto

Daniel MARTINS DE ALMEIDA BARRETO is a PhD Candidate in Economics at Sciences Po working on a thesis entitled Bounded Rationality in Information Economics: Theory and Experimental Evidence, under the supervision of Eduardo PEREZ. He will be going onto the international job market this year.

His research interests are in microeconomic theory, information economics, bounded rationality and political economy.

Monica Martinez Bravo

Monica MARTINEZ-BRAVO is Associate Professor at CEMFI. She is also a Faculty Affiliate at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), a Member of the Council of the European Economic Association and of the Spanish Economic Association (AEE), a Senior Fellow at the Esade Centre for Economic Policy (EsadeEcPol) , a Research Affiliate at BREAD, at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and at the IGC.  Among her editorial duties, she is Member of the Director Board of the Review of Economic Studies.

Her research interests are in the fields of Political Economy and Economic Development. Her work has garnered national and international recognition. In 2021, she was awarded the Banco Sabadell Award for the best Spanish economist under 40. And in 2022 she was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grantee for her project Political Trust in Crisis: Determinants and Solutions (POLTRUSTLAB).
