The Paris-London Public Economics conference is a two-day conference organised by faculty at the Department, the London School of Economics (LSE), University College London (UCL), the Institut des Politiques Publiques, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).
The programme features research on a range of issues in public economics.
Professor Michael GREENSTONE (University of Chicago) will deliver the keynote address.

Stéphane DUPRAZ is a Research Economist at the Banque de France in the Monetary and Financial Studies Division. Since 2017, he also lectures at the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE). He holds a PhD in Economics from Columbia University.
His research field is macroeconomics, and in particular, monetary economics, dispersed information, and expectations formation.

Raul SÁNCHEZ DE LA SIERRA is Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy. He is a research fellow at the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA), the International Growth Centre (IGC), the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL), the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and a distinguished fellow at the CESifo. He co-founded Marakuja Kivu Research, focused on collecting data in weak state areas while providing career enhancing opportunities to young Congolese individuals and ex-combatants. Prior to joining Harris, he was Assistant Professor at UC Berkeley, in the political economy focused BPP group at the Haas School of Business.
Raul SÁNCHEZ DE LA SIERRA’s research focus areas include development economics, political economy, and conflict. He conducts most of his research in areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where the central state is especially weak. There, he looks at the organisation of society, the economics and psychology of armed groups, the emergence of state functions, and the economics of organised corruption working closely with these actors, while also gathering detailed data for statistical analysis.

Julien MARTIN is Associate Professor of Economics at the École des sciences de la gestion of the University of Québec at Montreal (ESG-UQAM) and the holder of the UQAM Research Chair on the local impact of global firms. He is also a research affiliate at CEPR, CREST, and CIRANO. Among his editorial duties, he serves as an Associate Editor for the European Economic Review.
His research exploits firm-level data to examine various topics including international economics, corporate taxation, and urban economics.

Brad LARSEN is Assistant Professor of Economics at Stanford University since 2014. He is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a Faculty Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. He is currently a W. Glenn Campbell and Rita Ricardo-Campbell National Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
His primary area of research is Industrial Organisation, with specific emphasis on bargaining and occupational licensing. His recent research projects study large datasets of alternating-offer-negotiation settings to analyze behavioral patterns and efficiency in bargaining. He also studies the effects of occupational licensing regulations on market outcomes such as prices, competition, and the distribution of service quality. Other recent projects study auctions, consumer search, digital copyright law and grey-market activity, changes in US wage inequality due to increased import competition with China, the effects of laws legitimizing arbitrage (parallel importation) across international markets, and applied econometric methods.
