Alex Issa holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History and International Relations from Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut and a Master's degree in Political Science and International Relations from Sciences Po Paris.

He held the position of Research Analyst for the Middle East and North Africa at France Médias Monde (France24, RFI, Monte Carlo Doualiya) for a year and a half before starting his doctoral thesis. He is currently a consultant in International Relations.

Focusing on the role of development in conflict resolution, he worked on the United Nations Development Program "UNDP" in Lebanon in his master’s thesis entitled "The UNDP in Lebanon: The Impossible Governance" and supervised by Guillaume DEVIN.

His doctoral thesis focused on the factors explaining the institutional sustainability of the UN peacekeeping force in South Lebanon, under the supervision of Christian LEQUESNE.

In this work, he used an ethnographic study that allows him to analyze the interaction between the UN peacekeepers and Lebanese civil populations of different sectarian and political affiliations.

His thesis analysed the causalities explaining the development of this relationship that has been established since the genesis of the UNIFIL in 1978 and that plays a role in the legitimisation of UN action in Lebanon.

He’s currently a lecturer in the Undergraduate Program at Sciences Po Paris, teaching the Creation of the Contemporary Middle East. He also teaches International Relations - European and World History History at ESCP Europe where he's an admission jury member for the Bachelor and Master in Management. At Inalco, he teaches International Security for the M2 students.
