Library research: first steps

How to do library research? There are a range of tools accessible on the library homepage.

After connecting to the Sciences Po Library website, you can use it to take advantage of the library’s resources (books, newspapers, online journals, ebooks, etc.).
To access library materials, there are various tools available on our homepage.

Research tools

One search
A Google-like search engine for searching both:

  • the library’s print collections
  • the library’s digital collections (ebooks, online journal articles)

Attention : One search is not the appropriate search tool for newspaper articles or for French legal sources.

Catalogue
The catalogue gives you information about the print materials available at the library, their location and their availability, and allows you to borrow them.
Certain ebooks and DVDs are also listed in the catalogue.

Electronic resources
Electronic resources give you access to numerous thematic and newspaper databases, as well as encyclopedias and dictionaries.

Online journals
A tool providing access to the electronic journals for which the library has subscriptions. It also contains open access journals.
Attention: Searches are by journal title not by content or article title.
