Historically, universities, and more specifically their academic communities, have been key players in the promotion of democratic values and national identity. In light of a changing global political landscape that includes neo- nationalist movements, populist leaders, and autocratic leaning governments, how might universities strengthen and expand their role in promoting and, in some cases, preserving democracy?
