We are happy to announce the Graduate Seminar 2024 of the class "Science Diplomacy" taught at PSIA by Professor and CERI Director Stéphanie Balme’s and in cooperation with Senior Director of the International Science Council and Head of the Centre for Science Futures Mathieu Denis!

We invite you to join us to our event "Science Diplomacy: Exploring New Frontiers in Climate, Technology, and Space" and engage in three interesting panel discussions with experts of each area. We will dive into the complex interplay of science diplomacy and geo-engineering, AI, and space which will shed light on the importance of international cooperation.

Science Diplomacy has garnered significant attention as the nexus between diplomacy and scientific research in the international arena. Today, it serves as a pivotal tool for fostering international scientific collaboration, ensuring effective communication during crises, and harmonizing scientific insights with diplomatic imperatives in shaping foreign policy decisions. In an ever-evolving international landscape, where climate change, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and space exploration shape the future, science diplomacy plays an important role in building bridges between nations, promoting trust and cooperation, and addressing global challenges that transcend political boundaries.

This conference aims to delve into the effectiveness of science diplomacy in tackling these challenges and showcase the advancements already made in this direction.

Russian Economy on War Footing

Venue: Amphithéâtre Erignac, 13 rue de l'Université - Paris 7

After the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 Russia’s economy has changed in many ways. Sanctions and foreign companies’ exodus from the country have made Russia more isolated from the global economy, while its dependence on China has grown. Government is using much more money on the war on Ukraine, partially at the expense of many other sectors. This year military expenditures will be 6% of GDP. The presentation will explore the current state of the Russian economy as well as its long-term growth potential, whether the economy has adapted to sanctions and if the state has resources to continue the war for long.”
