Staffan de Mistura is the UN Special Envoy for Syria since 2014. Previously he served as the head of the UN missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Staffan de Mistura, a dual national of Italy and Sweden, has more than three decades of experience within the UN, including in conflict-affected areas as well as within humanitarian agencies. Staffan de Mistura is a member of the Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs Strategic Committee.
