Student initiatives are limited-duration student projects selected by students, based on a specific event and led by one or more students, in the fields of culture, knowledge, sport, the environment, solidarity, health, civic engagement and the fight against discrimination.
A selection campaign is organised each semester and is applicable on all Sciences Po campuses.
Some examples of student initiatives: art exhibition, series of conferences, film production, live performance, festival, voluntary work or awareness-raising.
The selected initiatives will benefit, during a semester or an academic year, from the same allocation of resources as those made available to recognised student associations.
A new student association that has been initially selected as a student initiative will be eligible to apply for recognition the following year.
For further details, please refer to the Student Life regulations articles 19 to 21 (PDF, 357).
Selected student initiatives
Proposing a student initiative: step by step
- Submission of student initiative projects
Applicants are invited to submit their projects online
- Publication of eligible projects
Eligible projects will be made public on each campus
- Gathering of student votes
A website dedicated to student votes is set up. In order for initiatives to be selected, they must obtain, on each campus where they wish to operate, either 5% of votes of the student body for a regional campus or 120 student votes for the Paris campus. Each Sciences Po student (including those currently abroad on their 3rd year) can vote for up to 3 projects on their own campus.
Each student will receive a voting link via their Sciences Po email account.
- Announcement of selected student initiatives
Campaign results will be communicated to the Conseil de la vie étudiante et de la formation who will validate the list of initiatives retained for the coming semester or academic year.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact administration members on your campus or Sébastien Thubert, in charge of student life on the Paris campus.
