Let me give you our standard reply: a student association of the loi of 1901, that every year chooses a country of the Middle East, that allows 30 students to travel on the ground for a week in order to carry out individual research projects. The kind of research covered is as diverse as the body of students and their imagination. Okay, did you get the main idea? Good. Now let me tell you what Babel really is. I

t is 7 months of weekly board meetings, of spreadsheets and documents, of signatures and formal emails, of deadlines, many deadlines. It is 7 months of organizing and making a group of 30 noisy and scattered people work together as a team, of figuring out common timings, of trying and failing to get on the good side of French bureaucracy. 7 months of holding our breath for the next possible disaster.

It is 7 months of breathing easily after each disaster is averted and of grinning proudly at each little achievement, of seeing 30 of us start off with a little area of interest and helping it grow into a full research project. Of getting to know a country of the Middle East bit by bit, from a Wikipedia page where it all starts, to a full week spent on the actual terrain. It is a good amount of time spent preparing to immerse ourselves in a particular culture each year, and trying to experience it from its food, to its music, to its politics and society and every other angle we can get ourselves to reach out to. Babel is a journey of growth, discovery and continuous amazement.

Babel wants to open doors to new paths of knowledge and exploration, it wants to incite curiosity and build a dialogue. Babel wants to ask questions and to seek for answers. And in doing so, Babel wants to build memories, stories, bonds and friendships. And above all, Babel wants to share all of this with you.

    TEDxSCIENCESPOCM

    Student initiative
    Menton

Welcome to the first edition of TEDxSciencesPoCM! The last years, our world has experienced a huge change. We have seen the problems of a fading trust between Europe and the region our students are specializing: The Middle East. This issue caused by a small minority affects the lives and relationships of the normal citizens, and we want and need to foster a new understanding.

On 4th February 2017, we invite you to come to our campus to experience experts, artists, entrepreneurs, politicians and students elaborating on how we can see both regions in a different light. As our motto predicts, we will ""dare you to know"" to see the real truth and experience a whole day of innovative, mind-blowing ideas.

Check out our website and our Facebook page to see our speakers, to get YOUR ticket for the event and to inform yourself more about TEDxSciencesPoCM.

We are excited to see you in February!
