The policy stream 'Defense and Security' is designed for students who wish to exercise responsibility in this field, in the public and private sectors. It provides students with a comprehensive view of the main security and defense issues in a context where the emergence of new threats (environment, cyberspace...) generates a complete reconfiguration of state policies, businesses and organizations.
Are the core classes taught in English and in French?

How many students are in an average class?
Whenever possible and depending on the type of class, a course has on average 18 to 22 students. Some courses take place in an amphitheater and as such have a higher number of students.
How many students are enrolled in the MPP?
An average of 650 students are admitted every year in the MPP program.
What is a policy project?
Policy projects place students in a professional context in connection with a public, private or civil society institution. Students work is small groups and their policy project can take the form of a case study.
When can I do a gap year?
Several options are offered:
students can take a gap year between the 1st and 2nd semester,
between the 2nd semester and the 3rd semester (between M1 and M2)
or between the 3rd semester and the 4th semester.
A one-year gap year cannot replace a student's academic obligations. To apply for a gap year, students should contact the academic coordinator of their policy stream and provide a personal statement letter.
Is it possible to attend classes during a gap year?
No it is not possible to attend classes during a gap year. Students do have the option of doing a semester of academic exchange with another university during their gap year.
What are the tuition fees during a gap year?
During a gap year, students have to pay 25% of their regular tuition fees. If students are doing an exchange program, they will have to pay the totality of their regular tuitions fees.

After graduation, does the school help me search for a first professional experience?
Sciences Po has a policy of actively assisting students in their professional orientation. Upon admission and for up to two years after graduation, the Career Services help students and recent graduates to choose a career path, build a career plan, prepare applications and meet employers.
Until when can I be granted an internship agreement?
