Degree Requirements for PSIA Students

PSIA Students are submitted to Sciences Po requirements for Master students. Please review them carefully, in particular Article 44.

As stated in Article 44, Sciences Po students must complete “all specialized courses required by the Master program in which they are enrolled”.

As such, PSIA students must take all courses required in their maquette every semester.

By the end of their studies at PSIA, students in all regular, 2-year degree programs must have taken:

  • 2 Sciences Po Common Core Curriculum courses ("Offre commune")
  • 1 Skills courses - to be taken either in the 1st semester OR the 2nd semester of the first year
  • 9 courses of their Master Core Curriculum
  • 3 courses of their 1st Concentration
  • 3 courses of their 2nd Concentration
  • 3 language courses

Please note that a course for which a student is graded "Défaillant" (DF) because of absences or work not submitted is counted as a course not taken.

PSIA students in all all regular, 2-year degree programs must also have validated (obtaining a passing grade) at least the following courses:

  • 2 Sciences Po Common Core Curriculum courses  ("Offre commune")
  • 1 Skills course
  • 6 courses of their Master Core Curriculum
  • 2 courses of their 1st Concentration
  • 2 courses of their 2nd Concentration
  • 2 language courses

The Grand Oral is also a degree requirement for all 2-year Master students at Sciences Po. Beginning with the Class of 2017, the topic of each student's Grand Oral will be driven from their experience in the third semester (be it an internship, Master thesis or a semester abroad). The reformed Grand Oral will allow students to engage in a social science discussion through the lens of their own recent experience.

Students in all regular, 2-year degree programs at PSIA must also have validated at least 120 ECTS in order to graduate.

Specific Degree Requirements for International Dual Degree Students

PSIA Students pursuing a dual degree with an international partner university must take all courses required in their maquette every semester. Dual Degree students must validate at least the following courses at PSIA:

  • 2 Sciences Po Common Core Curriculum courses ("Offre commune")
  • 1 Skills course
  • 4 courses of their Master Core Curriculum
  • 2 courses of their Concentration
  • 1 language course per academic semester at PSIA
  • Any additional requirement related to their dual degree program

Degree Requirements for one-year Master in Advanced Global Studies Students

PSIA students pursuing the one-year Master in Advanced Global Studies must take all courses required in their maquette over the year: 

  • 7 courses of their Master track Core Curriculum (28 ECTS)
  • 3 courses of their Concentration (12 ECTS)
  • 1 Skills course (4 ECTS)
  • 2 language courses (8 ECTS)
  • August Bootcamp (8 ECTS)
  • January Intersession (8 ECTS)
  • Summer Session (20 ECTS)
  • Final Policy Brief (12 ECTS for group work and 4 ECTS for individual work)

Master in Advanced Global Studies students must have validated at least 100 ECTS in order to graduate.
