Martin SCHRÖDER,
Professor in economic sociology, Marburg University

He holds a professorship for economic sociology at the University of Marburg in Germany. He earned his PhD at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies and spent one year each at Sciences Po Paris and Harvard University. His research focuses on social inequality, welfare states, varieties of capitalism, the influence of morality on economic action, and life satisfaction. In 2013, he has published the monograph Integrating Varieties of Capitalism and Welfare State Research: A Unified Typology of Capitalisms with Palgrave. In 2016, he published the article How Income Inequality Influences Life Satisfaction in the European Sociological Review and the article Varieties of Regulation: How to Combine Sectoral, Regional and National Levels in Regional Studies. He has also published on welfare regimes in journals such as Social Forces and the Journal of Social Policy.
