Étienne WASMER revisits the innovative method used for drafting the contentious "Loi Macron"

Etienne WASMER (co-director of Sciences Po's LIEPP and Professor at the Department of Economics) signs this month's column for LIEPP in the French daily Les Échos

"In the tumultuous parliamentary procedure for the adoption of the "loi Macron" an important innovation has gone more or less unnoticed: the appointement of a commission made up of 10 independent experts who were asked to analyse certain provisions of the bill..." This is significant as ex ante pre-legislative evaluations are usually couched in vague terms and unsupported by empirical evidence.
