FacSem (Faculty seminars) are inaugural conferences presented by new members of faculty on a topic of their choice and which allow them to present their research to Sciences Po's wider scientific community.

Congratulations to both of the Department's successful job market candidates: Jules HUGOT and to Guillaume VUILLEMEY

Jules HUGOT

Jules HUGOT sucessfully defended his dissertation - A Quantitative History of Trade Globalization (advisor: Thierry MAYER) - and was awarded a PhD in Economics at Sciences Po in 2015.  He joined the Pontificad Universidad Javeriana (Bogota) as Assistant Professor of Economics this Fall.

His research interests are international economics and economic history.

Guillaume VUILLEMEY

Guillaume VUILLEMEY sucessfully defended his dissertation - Derivatives Markets: From Bank Risk Management to Financial Stability (advisor: Philippe MARTIN) - and was awarded a PhD in Economics at Sciences Po in 2015.  He joined the HEC Paris as Assistant Professor of Finance this Fall.

His primary research interests are:  banking, corporate finance, financial economics, derivatives. Secondary: macroeconomics, onternational economics, methodology of economics.

Ruben DURANTE to publish in forthcoming issue of the American Economic Association Journal (Applied Economics)

Ruben DURANTE (Assistant Professor of the Department) has co-authored an article with S DellaVigna (UC Berkeley), B. Knight (Brown) and E. La Ferrara (Bocconi) - "Market-based Lobbying: Evidence from Advertising Spending in Italy".

The article will appear in a forthcoming issue of the AEA's Applied Economics Journal.

Stéphane CARCILLO pens a tribune with Pierre CAHUC on reforming French labour law in Les Échos

Stéphane CARCILLO is Associate Professor of the Department and Executive Director of the Chair « sécurisation des parcours professionnels ».

The Chair is headed up by Pierre CAHUC (ENSAE-CREST, Polytechnique) and the Department's Yann ALGAN. It is managed by the « Fondation du Risque »  (a research foundation recognized of public interest) and brings together researchers from Sciences Po and of the group GENES which includes ENSAE and CREST.
