Andrew Knapp

Andrew Knapp is Emeritus Professor of French Politics and Contemporary History at the University of Reading. He has also taught at the Univeristies of Paris-2, Paris-3, and Paris-7, as well as Oxford. His research has covered French political parties (Le Gaullisme après de Gaulle (Paris, Seuil, 1996); Parties and the Party System in France (Basinstoke: Palsgrave Macmillan, 2004)), postwar French politics (as editor: The Uncertain Foundation: France at the Liberation, 1944-47 ((Basinstoke: Palsgrave Macmillan, 2007)) and, most recently, the Allied bombing of France (Forgotten Blitzes: France and Italy under Allied Air Attack, 1940-1945 (London: Continuum, 2012); Les Français sous les bombes alliées, 1940-1945 (Paris: Tallandier, 2014); and, as co-editor Bombardements 1944: Le Havre, la Normandie, la France, l'Europe (Rouen: Presses Universitaires de Rouen et du Havre, 2016 forthcoming)).
