Bio :

Yann Algan is Professor of Economics, Dean of the Pre-Experience Programs at HEC, and a member of the Conseil d'Analyse Economique. His research focuses on trust and well-being in organizations and societies, and public policies evaluation, particularly in the areas of education, employment and management policies. The methodologies used come from different disciplinary fields, at the crossroads of economics, management, psychology and big data. They also include controlled experiments for the public policies evaluation.

Yann Algan is a member of the OECD's High Level Expert Group (HLEG) on measures of well-being, and co-director of the Observatoire du Bien-Etre (Cepremap). He is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France.  

In 2009, he received the Best Young French Economist Award. His books on trust and French society received the best essay prize (LIRE) in 2007 and the best economics book prize in 2008 ("La société de défiance", Editions rue d'Ulm), and the high school prize for the best economics book in 2012 and 2018 ("La fabrique de la défiance", "Les Français, le Bonheur et l'Argent). His research is published in the best international journals and has been awarded two ERC grants: the first in 2010 for the "Trust" project and the second in 2015, in the Consolidator category, for the "SOWELL" project on social preferences, well-being and public policies.
