Tuition Fees and bursaries

Overview

"In higher education in France the Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires (CROUS) is a regional organisation providing student student bursaries, university halls of residence, and student restaurants."

The tuition fees system distinguishes between two major categories of students:

  • Students whose tax residence is in the European Union pay fees according to a sliding scale, from € 0 to € 9,800/year for the undergraduate programmes and from € 0 to € 13,500 for the Master’s programmes (in 2012-2013), depending on total declared family income and size of the household.
  • Students whose tax residence is not in the European Union will pay fees of € 9,800/year for the undergraduate programmes and € 13,500 for the Master’s programmes (in 2012-2013).

Bursaries for non-EU students

The Emile Boutmy Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by Sciences Po to top students from outside the European Union, who have demonstrated academic excellence and whose personal profile matches the course requirements.

Many other organizations, both private and public, in France and abroad, also offer grants and scholarships to non-European students at Sciences Po.

Bursaries and grants for EU students

To compensate for the lack of bursaries and grants offered by the government to European students, Sciences Po has decided to introduce a very ambitious social benefits system. European Union students who fulfil the same social criteria as their French counterparts may receive bursaries from Sciences Po of the same amount as French students during their first year of study at Sciences Po.

Starting from their second year, the students will be required to apply for a bursary through the CROUS de Paris. Students receiving this bursary will be exempt from paying Sciences Po tuition fees.
