Sciences Po's library
Holdings and services
The library's mission is to support Science Po's teaching and research activities by acquiring digital, print and audiovisual documentary resources. It offers a wide array of services to guarantee users fast and easy access to all the information required for their work.
It caters for Sciences Po students, teachers and researchers, but also for many outside readers from all over the world, since it is recognised as one of Europe's leading social sciences libraries.
On average, the library receives close to 3,000 visitors a day, issues 204,500 documents a year and holds 920,000 print volumes.
Library users have on- and off-campus access to more than 50 online databases, over 1,500 e-books and more than 145,500 online journals – in 2010, they downloaded a total of over 1,750,000 documents in full text.
The library's acquisition policy takes into account the institution's international vocation: 60% of our print holdings are in languages other than French.
Six brandnew reading rooms have been opened at the beginning of the 2010/2011 academic year in the heart of Paris at 27, rue Saint Guillaume. All in all, students now have access to almost 960 individual work spaces, 86,000 documents in open stacks, areas set aside for group work and state-of-the-art technical equipment.
