What is the impact of European cooperation in terms of police, internal security and borders on the everyday security of the persons living in the EU area? We helped Didier and Francesco answering these questions by studying how different websites are related to a selection of queries in Google.

Research design

1. Researchers set a specific list of queries matching their research questions
2. We built a script to query Google and harvested each list of resulting websites
3. We built a bipartite graph of queries and websites and spatialized it in Gephi
4. Researchers classified the most cited websites and we interpreted the map

With the library of Sciences Po

The library of Sciences Po provides a heavily categorized list of French political websites to researchers. Librarians need to prospect new resources until the list is exhaustive enough, and represent it as a map to compare its properties to the French political field.

Research design

1. Librarians provided a list of URLs as a starting point for their corpus
2. We trained them to use Hyphe, our crawler, and they harvested the contents
3. Librarians defined the right boundaries for each resource (full site, single page...)
4. Librarians prospected new resources using citations as a discovery tool

With Nelly Quemener, Eric Dagiral & François de Singly

Exploring the different ways viewers interpret TV shows such as the French version of "Farmer looks for a wife" by referring to their own love life and trajectory.

Research design

1. Researchers provide a series of hashtags to follow
2. We collect all the maching tweets every day during 6 months
3. We explore the results (24,000 tweets) with researchers to extract relevant patterns
