Professor of Political Science/Politics & Government in the US

Sciences Po is seeking a Professor of Political Science / Politics and government in the United States.

Applicants must have the status of associate or full professor. Applicants should be scholars specialized in American politics. Their research should focus on political actors or institutions (Congress, the Presidency, the Supreme Court...), processes (elections...), as well as the “running” of the American state.

The applicant’s publishing record will demonstrate her/his ability to produce innovative research . She/he will participate in international scientific networks and will contribute to research programs at the CERI. Her/hisresearch will be linked to one of the two following ‘research axes’ : “ Political participations and mobilizations”; “The State and its transformations”.
The annual teaching load is 128 hours, consisting of three courses of 24 hours each and 56 hours of complementary pedagogical activities. Teaching will take place at the three levels of education at SciencesPo: undergraduate (especially at the Euro-American campus at Reims), masters, and doctoral programs. The person being hired will have to supervise master theses and doctoral dissertations.
The successful applicant will be involved in strengthening American studies at Sciences Po and in consolidating institutional relations with North American universities.
In order to be eligible for this position, professors and scholars working in non-French institutions and lacking the qualification of the French National Council of Universities (CNU) must get a certification of scientific equivalence by SciencesPo’s Scientific Council. • A cover letter with a presentation of the research projects that the candidate intends to pursue;
• A CV with a complete list of publications;
• A syllabus of the courses taught and, if possible, students’ assessments;
• Three noteworthy publications;

UNIT OF AFFILIATION, CONTACTS
The Centre for International Studies studies world politics through a double approach: international/transnational relations; area studies and comparative politics. It gathers more than sixty researchers, mainly in political science and sociology, but also in other disciplines (anthropology, history, law, geography and economics).The CERI people are fully involved in the supervision of PhD students and are actively engaged in teaching at Sciences Po.
