His project aims to assess the interplay between the Bank of Italy and the political elite between the 1970s and early 1990s when major political, institutional, and financial changes occurred. In particular, he will study how the consolidation of the autonomy of Italy’s central bank in the face of the Treasury took place and how this influenced the historical development of Italy in the context of globalization and EU integration.
