Joakim Palme

Joakim Palme is professor of political science at Uppsala University since 2009. His research is focused on comparative analyses of the political economy of the welfare state. All his academic degrees are from Stockholm University, where he worked in various positions at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) from 1980 to 2009. He was the chairman of the Swedish Welfare Commission 1999-2001 and the director of the Institute for Futures Studies 2002-2011. He is currently chairing the governmental Migration Studies Delegation (Delmi) and directing a research project on the consequences of the global financial crisis on European welfare states.
