Joan Carles Pamies is PhD candidate and researcher at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). He currently works in the I+D+i project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Ref. CSO2016-79540-R) “Plural councils? The political representation of immigrants in Spain”. He majored in Political Science and Public Administration at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). He also holds an MA in International Relations and African Studies at the UAM. His doctoral dissertation seeks to explain the strategies of political representation of the Spanish parties in comparative perspective. His research has been presented in several national and international scientific conferences.

Visiting projects and objectives

He’s working on descriptive and substantive representation of politicians in Spain, and support to the International Ethnic and Immigrant Minorities' Survey Data Network, COST Action CA16111, led by Prof. Laura Morales.
