Activating my card, printing, scanning : How to use the library printers.

 Use your Sciences Po card (student, faculty, researcher, external reader) to print and make photocopies, or purchase a Sedeco card using a copy-and-print terminal.

Sciences Po student cards contain an annual allowance (except in 3rd year) of 30 euros (equal to 600 black & white copies).

Printing

Before using it for the first time, be sure to activate your Sciences Po card at one of the activation terminals.

1 - Activate your card at an activation terminal

  • Find an activation terminal
  • Log in with your Sciences Po ID (firstname.lastname) and place your card on the reader
  • Your card is activated from now

2 - Submit a printing request from a public workstation

You can print from any public workstation (computers in the reading rooms, open-access computers rooms, faculty room). 4 workstations are dedicated exclusively to express-printing : 
- 27 RSG, ground floor behind the "Kiosque"
30 RSG, lower grounf floor, 1st, 2nd, 3rd floors

  • Open a session on a public workstation 
    Aller versTake care not to use a session opened by a previous user
  • Use the dropdown menu "Fichier" / "Imprimer" or the "Imprimer" iconpip
  • In order to save paper, please print double-sided

Warning !
Files not printed will be deleted overnight.

3 - Print directly from a printer

  • In the copy room place your Sciences Po or Sedeco card on the card-reader of any of the printers
  • Your documents will be printed automatically.

3 BIS - Print from an express terminal (if you don't have your card)

  • On the express terminal log in with your Sciences Po ID
  • Select the files you wish to print and click on « Imprimer la sélection »
  • Click « Valider »
  • Your documents will be printed on the printer beside the express terminal

Manage your printing

You can check, delete printing requests, by logging in http://killprint (in french) with your Sciences Po ID.

Photocopying

Before using it for the first time, be sure to activate your Sciences Po card at one of the activation terminals.

How to photocopy

  • In the copy room place your Sciences Po or Sedeco card on the card reader of any of the printers.
  • Photocopy documents

Machines for copying microform materials are available on 30 RSG, lower level.

Some fragile materials may not be copied.
Reproduction of library materials is restricted to private use and must respect intellectual property law.

Scanning

You can scan items directly to your USB key on any printer with a USB slot.

  • Connect your USB key on the printer
  • Scan documents using the SCAN function
  • The files are saved on your USB key

Prices

  • Black & white: 0,05€ per A4 page
  • Color: 0,15€ per A4 page

1€ = 20 B&W A4 or 6 color A4
5€ = 100 B&W A4 or 33 color A4
10€ = 200 B&W A4 or 66 color A4
20€ = 400 B&W A4 or 133 color A4
50€ = 1000 B&W A4 or 333 color A4

1 A3 = 2 A4

Recharging cards

You can recharge your card at the following vending machines : 27 rue St-Guillaume (ground floor), 30 rue St-Guillaume (ground floor), 117 boulevard St-Germain (lower level) and 13 rue de l’Université (lower level)

  • Minimum credit: 0,20€
  • Maximun credit: 80€

You can recharge your student card when your annual allowance are your credit are sold out.
If case of loss or forgetting your Sciences Po card, your can buy a provisional Sedeco card.
Price of the Sedeco card : 2€ (includes 0,50€ copy credit).
Always prefer using and topping up your Sciences Po card.

FAQ

I forgot my student card. Can I still print?

You can print without your card by using a express terminal (« poste de déblocage ») with your Sciences Po ID (firstname.lastname), or buy a provisional Sedeco card.
Before first use of a Sedeco card, activate it. If you do so, when you get back your Sciences Po card you'll need to activate it again.

I forgot my student card. Can I still photocopy ?

Yes, but a provisional Sedeco card is required.

What should I do if I have lost my student card?

Contact the Administrative Services Office to get a new card.
You will need to activate your new card before using it. Your annual allowance will be automatically transferred to your new card.
Warning ! The credit topped up is not transferred to your new card, it is lost.

How can I print using my laptop?

You cannot print from your laptop, you need to use a public workstation.

I have credit remaining on my old Sedeco card, can I use it?

You can use an old Sedeco card with the printer located on the right-hand side of the ground floor library at 27 rue St-Guillaume. Once your credit is used up, you will have to either use your Sciences Po card or purchase a new Sedeco card.

How do I print pages in color?

By default, print jobs are sent by the computers terminals in black & white. To print in color, select the color printer from the printer menu and proceed to one of the color printers.

What should I do if I receive a "printer paused" notification on a Mac?

You have to provide the Mac workstation number (PSTXXX) at the libririan desk or to the HelpDesk, or to try a different terminal.
