The Library in few key dates

History

1871: creation of the École Libre des Sciences Politiques and its library.

1946: creation of the Centre de Documentation Contemporaine.

1982: the Ministry of National Education gives Services de Documentation the mission of being the Centre for the Acquisition and Distribution of Scientific and Technical Information (CADIST) in the field of political science.

1989-1990: computerisation of Services de Documentation.

1994: Services de Documentation becomes the Bibliothèque nationale de France’s associate centre for some areas of political science.

1999: the library’s catalogue is accessible on the Internet.

2000: the first of six libraries in a regional campus open (Nancy).

2002: renovation of the library’s main building at 30 rue Saint-Guillaume.

2004: participation in the French University Catalogue (Sudoc).

2008: first version of Spire, Sciences Po Institutional Repository.

2009-2010: renovation of reading rooms at 27 rue Saint-Guillaume (Bibliothèque René Rémond).

2015: the Direction des Ressources Documentaires (DRD) becomes the Direction des Ressources et de l'Information Scientifique (DRIS).
