The library holds a sizable collection in the human and social sciences, reflecting a wide range of disciplines and fields of research.

  • 1,000,000 documents of which 650,000 books
  • 25 linear km of shelving
  • 11 reading rooms in Paris for 3,500 visitors per day during the educational period
  • 15,000 journals, annuals, and newspapers, including 740 current subscriptions
  • 480,000 e-books
  • 70,000 full-text electronic journals
  • More than 90 subscriptions to online databases
  • 18,000 press clipping files, 4,850 of which are digitized
  • 860,000 digitized documents
  • More than 1,000 DVDs and audio CDs (fiction and non-fiction, audiobooks) and 5000 streaming movies

40% of the library's holdings are in French, 40% in English, and 20% in other European languages.

The online catalogue contains almost all of the books and periodicals held by the library since its creation. The old card catalogues are available on request.

The Search function provides access to selected databases, online journals, digitized press files, CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs, and websites.
